A tragic accident claimed the life of 24-year-old Baylee Johnson, a young expectant mother from Sumter, South Carolina. Baylee, who was 15 weeks pregnant with her baby boy named Johnny, died along with her unborn child after a freak go-karting incident on August 22.
According to the coroner’s report, Baylee’s ponytail became entangled in a go-kart’s sprocket-a toothed wheel that transfers power from the engine to the wheels. This caused her neck to hyperextend, preventing her from breathing.
She was unconscious and pulseless when rescued from the vehicle. Despite efforts by paramedics to revive her, Baylee was rushed to the hospital, where she tragically passed away eight days later along with her baby.
