A woman in Kentucky is facing charges for leaving her five children alone in unsanitary conditions without any food.
Desiree Pohlmann was arrested on Wednesday, September 2, and charged with five counts of endangering the welfare of a child and criminal abuse in the second degree of a child aged 12 or under after a neighbor called police to check on the house out of concern for the kids’ safety.
According to WHAS, when officers first approached the house, the smell of human and dog urine was so pungent that it could be smelled from outside the house. Inside, they found the five children, ranging in age from 9 years old to 7 months old, living among human and animal waste.
