1836 — Militia called out amid Cherokee unrest. Arkansas governor William S. Fulton issued a second militia proclamation on September 5 after disputes among Cherokee factions created unrest in northwestern Arkansas. Men from ten counties were mustered to preserve peace in Benton and Washington counties.
