PETERSBURGH, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is continuing to investigate a contamination site in Petersburgh. The agency released an update on Taconic Plastics, located at 136 Coon Brook Road, on Thursday.

An investigation was launched into the property in 2016, after it was identified as a source of contamination from PFAS. According to DEC, chemical levels in the town’s public drinking water supply and private drinking water wells were found to exceed the federal Environmental Protection Agency’s health advisory level of 70 parts per trillion (ppt).
Since then, environmental and health officials have performed extensive testing both on- and off-site to determine the nature and extent of the contamination.
