AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — In the immediate aftermath of the attacks on Sept. 11, community members looked to do their part by giving blood.
“We were one of the first blood centers to respond to the 9/11 event in New York City and actually partnered with Tinker Air Force Base, and they were able to get blood products in the air headed to New York City on September 11th,” said Brad Duggan, executive director at Coffee Memorial Blood Center.

In 2016, Coffee Memorial aligned with Our Blood Institute, and OBI, in partnership with Tinker Air Force Base, flew those blood products to victims of the attacks in New York City, and Duggan said that some of that product came from Amarillo.
