Teriyaki Master serves big portions for $13 near San Antonio

Teriyaki options are growing in the San Antonio area, as locals spots, like Mr. Teriyaki, and chains continue to expand their reach. Teriyaki Master, a relative newcomer that opened mid-May, has brought the Japanese American dish to its home in Leon Valley, so I had to put the quick-service restaurant to the test to see if it lives up to its name.

It was easy finding and parking at Teriyaki Master, since the business is situated in the Bandera Heights shopping center alongside other spots, like Gamelot, Taqueria Jalisco and Hyderabadi Spicy Matka. Inside, Teriyaki Master is simple and clean with minimal decor other than its own logo painted on one of the walls. Here, customers walk up to the counter to order, pay for their food and, if dining in, find their own seating within the restaurant.

Initially, I was compelled to order the $9.89 chicken teriyaki special entree in true Budget Bites fashion, but after I got to talking with the cashier, she persuaded me to go all in on the upgraded meal, which includes chicken teriyaki, two spring rolls, mixed vegetables, a choice of rice or noodles and a drink for $12.89. It might’ve been more than I was looking to spend but I later learned that this meal was more than enough for one sitting…
