Parents at the Boulder Valley schools marked for closure are organizing petition drives, planning rallies and creating websites to share data as they question the district’s plans.
They’re concerned about how the district made individual school decisions and are questioning the overall process, including the short timeline for a final decision. The school board first heard the full proposal on Aug. 25 and is expected to take a final vote in two weeks.
In response to declining enrollment, the proposal would close four schools, restructure grade levels at two K-8 schools and relocate two focus schools in the fall of 2027. The school board will hear from the community and discuss the draft plan at its Tuesday and Sept. 22 meetings, with a final vote scheduled Sept. 22.
