COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A Columbus man was found guilty of murder for a deadly shooting that took place near an elementary school in 2024.
Nicko Matthews-Cooper, 24, was found guilty of murder, felonious assault, discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises and tampering with evidence Aug. 6 after a jury trial. Matthews-Cooper was arrested in Dec. 2024 after evading capture for over two days in connection to the murder of 21-year-old Kaelan Amerson, according to court records.
