Multi-Car Crash On Harbor Drive Sends Three To Hospital

A crash near the 2500 block of East Harbor Drive in Barrio Logan sent at least three people to the hospital early Saturday morning. The collision involved serious injuries.

Reports from FOX 5 San Diego and KUSI News described a collision near Harbor Drive. The number of vehicles involved was not established. At least three people were hospitalized, though it remains unknown whether those transported were drivers or passengers, or which vehicles they had been in.

Officials continued investigating the collision Saturday morning. As of Saturday, officials had no updates on the conditions of those transported to the hospital, and the crash remained under investigation. The SDPD traffic division was investigating the collision.

A Corridor Built for Freight, Trains, and Bikes All at Once

The crash unfolded on a stretch of roadway that carries an unusually complicated mix of traffic. Harbor Drive runs directly alongside active Metropolitan Transit System trolley tracks and BNSF freight lines, creating multi-modal dynamics that involve freight trucks, passenger cars, trains, and cyclists all sharing the same corridor, according to the Environmental Health Coalition.
