Monday, Sept. 7 marks the six-year anniversary of the sparking of the Holiday Farm Fire, which grew to 173,000 acres and became one of the largest wildfires Oregon had ever seen, devastating areas across Lane and Linn County with repercussions still felt to this day.
The fire began late on the night of Sept. 7, 2020, near the Holiday Farm RV Resort in Rainbow. It spread quickly with the help of strong winds that carried it west across both sides of the McKenzie River corridor across Highway 126.
Two days later, it had grown to an estimated size of 105,000 acres, prompting Level 3 “Go Now” evacuations throughout the area…
