TUCSON, AZ — A reported bone found inside a shoe in the Tucson area has stirred a new wave of concern online in the missing-person case of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today host Savannah Guthrie. Photos and video shared on social media quickly drew attention, but there is still no official confirmation that the object is human.
There is also no public confirmation that the shoe or bone has any connection to Guthrie’s disappearance. The discovery has added to speculation around the case, but investigators have not said it changes what is known about where Guthrie is or what happened to her.

The fresh concern appears to have gained traction after self-styled investigator Jonathan Lee Riches, also known as JLR, returned to Tucson and kept posting about the case. Images and video showing what looked like a bone inside a black shoe circulated alongside his online activity.
