Country music icon Randy Travis is set to release new music for the first time in 18 years. On Friday, September 4, Travis announced that his upcoming album, Same Old Way, will be released on November 13 through Warner Records Nashville.
The announcement was made via Instagram by Travis’ team, who highlighted the significance of this release following his 2013 stroke. They noted, “Fans and music industry insiders weren’t sure a project like this would ever be possible again, but Randy continues to make history, and this album is living proof of that.”
Same Old Way features a collection of previously unreleased recordings spanning nearly three decades of Travis’ career, from 1986 to 2013, prior to his health challenges. To give fans a preview, the album’s title track was released alongside the announcement.
The song, co-written by Travis and his longtime producer and friend Kyle Lehning, marks the first time the duo has collaborated on songwriting, with Lehning earning his first major songwriting credit. According to Travis’ team, Lehning discovered these tracks after years in the vault and worked closely with Travis to assemble, remix, and remaster the recordings. The result is 12 original songs that showcase the unmistakable voice that has made Randy Travis a country music legend.
In addition to the title track, fans have already heard “Fish On” and “I Don’t Care,” both from the forthcoming album.
