That vision is at the heart of the Mandy & Dennis Weinman Cancer Building on the campus of Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. Designed to transform the cancer care experience, the state-of-the-art facility brings together specialists, advanced treatments and support services under one roof.
Patients and families played a role in the design, which includes rooms filled with natural light; calm and open spaces; views of Cylburn Arboretum; an immersive “Infusionarium” for pediatric patients; and easy parking — all built for healing.
Leading this effort is Dr. Pallavi Kumar, senior physician executive and cancer center director, who oversees LifeBridge Health’s oncology service line as medical director of the Alvin & Lois Lapidus Cancer Institute and the William E. Kahlert Regional Cancer Center.
“Our beautiful new facility allows us to deliver truly comprehensive cancer care through a multidisciplinary, streamlined approach,” says Dr. Kumar. “Patients can see their radiation oncologist, medical oncologist, hematology-oncologist and surgeon during a single visit, while also accessing nurses, social workers, genetic counselors, nutritionists and other support services.”…
