BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Residents of The Chateau, a Baltimore apartment building near Druid Lake, reached out to Spotlight on Maryland with longstanding concerns about broken doors, unreliable elevators and utilities that they say the management company has failed to fix.
The building has several federally subsidized units and houses several people who are elderly or have disabilities. The city has issued 20 citations against the property since 2017, but residents say building conditions haven’t improved much.
“People are coming in and they’re residing in the stairwell,” said 68-year-old resident Lauren Muhammad. “They’re smoking whatever they smoke and doing whatever they do I don’t feel safe. That’s a safety issue. Who’s going to protect me?”…
