CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Those born and raised in east Charlotte still call it Grier Town.
“I lived here from 1963 to 1974,” Rickey Livingstone said. “In fact, I grew up on Billingsley Road; we called it The Cut.”
The area, founded in the 1890’s eventually evolved into Grier Heights, and this year marks the 61st year the community has come together on Labor Day.
“It has gotten bigger and better,” added Stacey Brown, president of Grier Heights Community Improvement Organization and event co-organizer. “One of the most important things is that community members and family members come back, and it is one big reunion.”…
