Man accused of punching police K-9 after Vanderburgh County theft

VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) — A man faces several charges after deputies say he stole alcohol and cigarettes, assaulted a homeowner and punched a police K-9.

According to an affidavit, deputies were called to the St. Joseph Road area Sunday night after receiving reports of a man screaming while walking along the road. A second call reported a theft at the St. Joe Mini Mart.

Investigators say Eric Nicholson left the store with more than $100 worth of alcohol and cigarettes after paying just $3.

Deputies say Nicholson then entered a nearby garage, where he punched the homeowner and locked himself inside…
