ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE)— As Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer, a time sometimes associated with higher violent crime rates, this summer saw fewer homicides in Allen County than 2024 and 2025.
From Memorial Day to Labor Day 2026, Allen County saw nine homicides. In seven of those, gunshot wounds were the cause of death. In one of this summer’s homicides, a 10-year-old died from complications of injuries sustained when he was an infant.

The median age of this summer’s homicide victims was 27. The youngest was 10, and the oldest was 65.
