Storms associated with Tropical Storm Marie have been battering the Southern California coast, with Long Beach being particularly affected.
Monday marks the third straight day of large waves crashing into the seawall in front of the Long Beach Boardwalk; some in the area have even decided to board up their seaside homes. One video shared by a KTLA viewer shows a massive swell crashing into the seawall, sending water flying into the air.
City works crews did construct sand berms that went up to the seawall on Sunday; however, the overnight large swells reduced their progress significantly, as evidenced by Sky5 footage which showed that waves were within feet of the homes closest to the boardwalk.
