Driver, bystander hurt after crash takes out awning of Richmond home

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Two people are hurt after a car crashed into a Richmond home on Labor Day, causing its awning to collapse.

Just after 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 7, officers with the Richmond Police Department were called to the 900 block of Leigh Street near Carver Elementary School for report of a crash into a structure.

Our 8News team visited the scene and witnessed what appeared to be a BMW buried beneath pieces of an awning.

Police told 8News that the involved driver lost control of their vehicle and crashed into the front of the home…
