More than 15,000 stuffed grape leaves, nearly 7,000 pieces of baklava, and 900 pounds of lamb are just part of what it takes to feed the crowds expected at this weekend’s Greek-American Festival in downtown Toledo.
Janis Plomaritis, pastry chairman for Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral’s festival, said volunteers set a record this year, making 15,706 dolmathes, or stuffed grape leaves.
“The goal was to make 14,600 this year,” Mrs. Plomaritis said. “But the workshop led by Jaime Theodorou exceeded that and made a whopping 15,706.”…
