CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A Chicago man was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison after authorities said he distributed fentanyl in Cedar Rapids that led to a man’s fatal overdose.
Vincent Steven Calvin, 66, pleaded guilty in March to distribution of a controlled substance and possession of ammunition by a felon. U.S. District Judge Leonard T. Strand sentenced Calvin on Sept. 1 in Cedar Rapids to 144 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa, the fatal overdose happened after a man ingested fentanyl obtained from Calvin on Sept. 27 or 28, 2020. Authorities did not identify the man…
