COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa. (WOWT) – September is National Suicide Prevention Month. Nebraska ranks 12th-highest in the nation for its suicide rate, at 14.4 deaths per 100,000 people, according to America’s Health Rankings.
David Lawrence’s family lived that statistic five years ago, when his son, Sailor, died by suicide.
A father’s story
“Our story began about five, five and a half years ago when we lost our oldest son, Sailor, to suicide,” said David Lawrence, vice president of Sail On and Fly High.
