2,000 miles of cornfields and backyard camp-outs — one Fort Collins teen’s epic journey to get to college

Last month, 18-year-old Finn Fremstad hopped on a bike in his hometown of Fort Collins to get to his first day of college. The commute, which spanned half the continent, would take him 31 days.

Fremstad, who graduated from Fort Collins High School in May, arrived at Swarthmore College in the suburbs of Philadelphia with just enough time to recover before move-in day at the dorms.

“I can guarantee you, I felt all 2,000 of those miles,” he said. “I saw with great detail the hundreds of miles of cornfields.”…
