Burning Man may be over, but for car washes in Northern Nevada, the cleanup rush is just beginning as thousands of dust-covered vehicles roll back from the playa.
Car wash owners in Reno and Sparks say the post-Burning Man surge brings a boost in business — and some of the toughest cleaning jobs they handle all year. Crews at multiple locations said they have been preparing for this week for months, expecting everything from rental cars and SUVs to box trucks, trailers and moving vans, all coated in the desert’s alkaline dust.
Ryan Armstrong, owner of Buggy Bath Car Wash, said staffing ramps up to meet the demand.
“Oh definitely, we’re always here enough for Burning Man, extra staff, nobody has days off this week, and we’re just ready for them,” Armstrong said…
