The city of Detroit seized all of the animals at Detroit Farm and Cider on Sept. 4, the latest conflict between the urban farm and city officials that the owner called “irrational” and city officials described as a public safety measure.
Detroit Farm and Cider owner Leandra King told The Detroit News that one horse, four goats, 25 chickens, 32 ducks and 86 duck eggs were seized from her farm on Lawrence Street in Detroit, which she and her husband are planning to sell. She called the seizure “horrible.”
“I think their irrational behavior now will enable us to take some legal action and create some real checks and balances,” King said…
