- Flock cameras are being removed in various cities in Kentucky due to privacy concerns raised by residents and city councils.
Flock camera removals aren’t just a one-off in the Bluegrass State of Kentucky, per reporting by WLKY News. A recent example is Independence in Kenton County where Mayor Chris Reinersman announced their take down during the last week of August 2026.
Reinersman doesn’t personally object to Flock camera usage, finding the technology effective without posing privacy threats. Both the city council and residents of Independence, however, have raised concerns.
The mayor made the following statement. “We made a concerted effort to inform residents about this issue, provide opportunities for public discussion, and encourage community input…The response has been overwhelmingly opposed to the continued use of the cameras, with very limited public support expressed for keeping them.”…
