LOS ANGELES – The city may soon have a new way to punish repeat illegal dumpers: take the vehicle used to haul the trash and hold it for 30 days.
The pending City Hall motion, introduced by Councilmember John Lee and seconded by Park, asks the City Attorney to draft an ordinance authorizing 30-day impounds for vehicles used in repeat illegal-dumping offenses.
Illegal dumping is already a crime. The question is whether citations and cleanup crews can do enough when repeat offenders keep returning…
