Sacramento County Zoning Update Changes Pet Limits, Home Businesses, and Backyard Structure Heights

A new county zoning code will change what many unincorporated Sacramento County homeowners can build in the backyard, how many pets they can keep, and how home businesses are regulated.

The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors approved a sweeping overhaul of the County Zoning Code, and the update addresses 134 issues that residents, business owners, and county staff identified since the current code was adopted in 2015. The new rules take effect September 10.
