12 eastern Iowa students named National Math Stars

DES Moines, Iowa — Twelve students from Cedar Rapids, Iowa City and Marion have been selected for Iowa’s 2026 National Math Stars cohort, a 10-year enrichment program for students with exceptional math ability.

The eastern Iowa students include seven from the Iowa City Community School District, three from the Linn-Mar Community School District, one from Cedar Rapids Community School District and one from Marion Independent School District.

Statewide, 44 rising fourth graders were selected from 785 nominated third-grade students. Nominees represented 210 school districts and nonpublic schools and scored in the top 2% in math on the 2025-26 state assessment, according to the Iowa Department of Education…
