Several Arkansas counties are no longer under burn bans after restrictions expanded across nearly the entire state over the Labor Day weekend, although much of Southeast Arkansas remains under county-issued bans.
The latest available statewide listing shows burn bans have been lifted in Baxter, Boone, Cleburne, Cross, Drew, Desha, Lee, Little River, Marion, Mississippi, Newton, St. Francis and Van Buren counties. Lonoke County is also currently outside a countywide burn ban.
The change represents a significant retreat from Sunday, when 72 of Arkansas’ 75 counties were listed under burn bans as hot and dry conditions pushed wildfire danger to high levels statewide…
