WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – In an expected move at its meeting on Tuesday, the Wichita City Council approved an agreement and funding for Phase 2 of the Redbud Trail from Woodlawn to K-96.
The measure passed 5-2, with Mayor Lily Wu and Vice Mayor Dalton Glasscock voting in the minority opposition. Wu cited budgetary concerns, saying the estimated cost for the anticipated work ballooned to a number that she’s not comfortable with.
Last week, after the council delayed financial-related action on Phase 2 of the Redbud Trail, the city explained that an estimated cost maximum of $17 million to $18 million includes 3.5 miles of path and a signaled crossing along with a pedestrian bridge over Rock Road, near Bradley Fair (between 13th and 21st Streets)…
