ANCHORAGE, AK (Alaska’s News Source) – Heavy rain is making its way to the Southeast with some scattered showers expected in the Interior. Across Southcentral, our wet weather will fizzle out into the afternoon, while the earliest sightings of sunshine await on the Kenai Peninsula.
By the early afternoon, most of our storm will shift eastward, giving the Kenai Peninsula a chance to catch some sun. In Anchorage, the challenge comes with timing for sunnier skies. Many models are forecasting scattered showers to the end of the day; however, satellite and radar imagery suggest clearing skies by the early afternoon hours. Regardless, it’s been a rainy start to the day in Anchorage, but sunshine is ahead Wednesday through Friday. The heaviest showers in the region will reside in Prince William Sound with over an inch of rain, and the Mat-Su Valley with projections of up to 0.4 inches by the end of the day.
Juneau will receive up to 1.5 inches of rain by the evening hours, with more showers ahead for Wednesday. Heavy rain will sweep across Southeast, with heavier showers expected for Ketchikan Wednesday. Thursday will welcome drier conditions with sunshine by the end of the week.
