Brockton employee alleges retaliation after winning reinstatement | Exclusive

BROCKTON — An employee fired by the city won reinstatement after a mediator sided with her. Brockton returned her to the public payroll, but she says the city retaliated against her in violation of the deal.

Jessica Monteiro was a clerk in the finance office from 2017 to her firing in December 2024, according to public records and her lawyer. An arbitrator ordered Brockton to rehire her in July 2025.

“Although the City formally returned her to the payroll, Ms. Monteiro alleges that it failed to restore her to meaningful employment,” said attorney Yulanda R. Kiner. “Rather than reintegrating her into the workplace, the City assigned her to a different department without providing adequate training or orientation.”…
