12 people died in Ohio crashes over Labor Day weekend, highway patrol reports

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Twelve people died in fatal crashes across Ohio, including one in Cuyahoga County, during the four-day Labor Day holiday reporting period, according to preliminary statistics released Tuesday by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The reporting period began at midnight Friday and ended at 11:59 p.m. Monday. The patrol said at least one of the fatal crashes was related to intoxicated driving.

The statewide death toll was the lowest recorded during the Labor Day holiday period in the past four years. The patrol reported 24 traffic fatalities during the 2023 Labor Day weekend, 18 in 2024 and 27 in 2025…
