SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — More than 100 military personnel and first responders are preparing to swim at least three miles across San Diego Bay this month as part of an annual tradition to raise money for Special Operations Forces (SOF) veterans.

The Honor Foundation (THF) will host its 6th annual Swim for SOF on Saturday, Sept. 19, a 3.3-mile open-water swim event from Coronado to the USS Midway.
Participants consisting of military veterans, active-duty service members and first responders will each carry a tribute card in honor of a fallen special ops veteran as they cross San Diego Bay.
THF is an organization with 12 campuses nationwide, including in San Diego, that provides support for special ops veterans as they transition from elite military service to civilian life.
On Sept. 19, participants can check in at the Hotel del Coronado Beach starting at 6:30 a.m. The event will begin with a ceremony on the beach, including a moment of silence for fallen service members. Then, participants will run with American flags to Glorietta Bay…
