Warm and pleasant weather will continue through tomorrow afternoon, with temperatures a little above average (in the upper-70s to near 80 degrees) and humidity gradually increasing. Most of the day should be dry and comfortable before a cold front nears from the west later in the day.
That front is expected to move through tomorrow evening and overnight, bringing showers and thunderstorms to Central New York. While the risk for severe weather is relatively low, a few stronger storms are possible. Damaging wind gusts are the primary concern, especially in western parts of the region, and an isolated brief tornado cannot be completely ruled out. The threat is expected to diminish as the storms move east later in the evening.
Some thunderstorms may produce brief heavy downpours, but the overall flooding risk appears limited because the front will keep moving rather than linger over one area. However, localized flooding is possible in urban and poor-drainage locations if heavier rainfall occurs.
By Thursday morning, the front should be east of the area, allowing cooler, drier air to move back in. The end of the week looks quiet and comfortable, with mostly dry weather and pleasant temperatures (in the mid to upper-70s on Thursday, and in the upper-60s to lower-70s on Friday.)…
