Toledo City Council approves $62,000 settlement in group home lawsuit

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – The City of Toledo is moving to pay out tens of thousands of dollars to end a federal lawsuit over a group home for people with disabilities.

Toledo City Council voted late this afternoon to approve a $62,000 settlement with Warren Singletery, Kimberly Cunningham and Treasured Homes LLC.

They sued the city in federal court, saying they were harmed when Toledo denied their request for a “reasonable accommodation” to open a group home in 2023. The city said that home sat too close to another property they owned, violating Toledo’s spacing rules…
