A new Baton Rouge nonprofit, Magnolia Children’s Group, is working to create something children entering foster care desperately need: safety, stability, dignity – and a soft place to land.
There are some stories I share on Baton Rouge Family Fun because they’re wonderful things happening in our community. And then there are stories that hit much closer to home.
Magnolia Children’s Group is one of those stories for me.
Before I was an adoptive mom, I was a foster mom. Our daughter came into our home through Louisiana’s foster care system when she was just eight months old. We fostered her for two years while working toward reunification with her biological family. When reunification was ultimately no longer possible, we said yes to adopting her and becoming her forever family.
That experience changed me.…
