Orleans Sheriff Michelle Woodfork asks faith leaders to volunteer at jail: ‘Nothing works without God’

Orleans Parish Sheriff Michelle Woodfork wants to provide more faith-based programming inside New Orleans’ jail, arguing that it will ultimately help those incarcerated at the Orleans Justice Center reintegrate back into society.

At a meeting Tuesday with more than 50 religious leaders, Woodfork asked for volunteers to help minister inside the jail.

“I believe nothing works without God, and so, if we give them that extra tool walking out the door, that belief in God, that belief in faith, I believe we will see a lot less people inside this jail,” Woodfork said…
