South St. Louis corner set for 78-home Virginia Plaza project

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – Developers have started work on a project to build and renovate 78 new homes and apartments at the intersection of the Dutchtown, Carondelet and Mount Pleasant neighborhoods in South St. Louis. The project is called Virginia Plaza, located near Virginia Ave and Eiler Street.

A Family Dollar previously stood at the site. It closed in 2022 and remained vacant since, with crumbling buildings next door and overgrown lots on the block. Crews broke ground at the site weeks ago to begin work on new and renovated homes.
