A New Harmony Man Convicted and Sentenced

Over in Posey County, a New Harmony man will serve prison time after being convicted of drug and firearm possession charges.

On Wednesday, 68-year-old Michael Roettger appeared in Posey County court, where he was sentenced to ten years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, possession of Methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a syringe, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of Marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Court records show that law enforcement was dispatched to a single-car accident in the late evening hours of March 21, 2025. Upon arrival, law enforcement observed Roettger, as the driver, displaying signs of impairment. He then admitted to ingesting Methamphetamine prior to driving.
