Rockford ranks as nation’s hottest real estate market for second time

ROCKFORD — The city has landed back atop the list of the hottest housing markets in the country for the first time since December 2024.

Rockford claimed the No. 1 spot on Realtor.com’s August list of the hottest housing markets. It beat out Kenosha, Wisconsin, which is about 90 miles away. Peoria also made the Top 10, as did Racine and Wausau in Wisconsin.
