Between a cryogenically frozen grandfather, firefighting mushrooms and a burger joint that predates NASA, the films screening at the Boulder Histories Film Festival cover some broad, if unusual, ground.
The festival returns, but rebranded, for its second year this weekend with a larger lineup of short documentaries, all made by local filmmakers and focused on Boulder County.
Last year’s event, called the “Saving Our History Film Festival,” leaned heavily toward historic preservation, with several films about preservation work on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. Festival director Rob Shearer said this year organizers wanted to explore films much closer to home…
