EUGENE, Ore. – Police caught a driver going 109 miles per hour on Delta Highway during a focused traffic enforcement effort, according to the Eugene Police Department.
EPD officials said the Eugene Police Traffic Safety Unit conducted the patrol from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Sept. 8 after receiving complaints about excessive speed, loud exhaust and drag racing on Delta Highway from Valley River Center to Beltline Highway. The five-hour enforcement was funded by an overtime grant from the Oregon Department of Transportation.
Officers stopped 12 people and issued 18 citations, along with several warnings. Speed violations ranged from 74 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone to 109 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone…
