EUGENE, Ore. — The Eugene Water and Electric Board (EWEB) announced a significant milestone in its efforts to improve the seismic resiliency of its infrastructure, finishing construction of two new round water storage tank structures in the College Hill neighborhood of Eugene.
The new tank structures are part of EWEB’s College Hill Reservoir Replacement Project, and are built in the footprint of the original College Hill Reservoir. The tanks are expected to come online in 2027, when they will provide a significant boost in resiliency to EWEB’s base-level water storage system.
Base-level water storage tanks play a critical role in how EWEB delivers water across the city. After water is treated at the Hayden Bridge Filtration Plant, it travels through large transmission pipelines to base-level storage tanks in Eugene, allowing on-demand delivery to customer taps.
