Springfield City Council looks likely to deny an annexation request for a planned crisis stabilization center and behavioral health hospital following a Tuesday, Sept. 8, meeting.
Councillors did not vote on the annexation, but discussed how to apply the city’s comprehensive plan to the annexation application filed by Lane County and PeaceHealth, which have purchased adjoining lots on International Way east of Gateway Street.
The property is designated campus industrial in the city’s comprehensive plan. According to the plan, “the primary objective of this designation is to provide opportunities for diversification of the local economy through siting of light industrial firms in a campus-like setting.”…
