When playwrights craft a story, they’re often building around a character. Someone they’ve created with clear goals and ambitions who will drive the story.
The setting, supporting characters and arising conflicts come later as this central being is fleshed out on the page. Though it’s a common way to write a play, it’s not the only way to create a compelling story on stage.
