New technology guides visitors through Fort Wayne airport, Grand Wayne Center

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fort Wayne visitors don’t have to worry about losing track of their airport gate or missing a conference downtown thanks to newly implemented technology that maps out two of the Summit City’s largest facilities.

The GoodMaps app is now available to offer directions through the inside of the Fort Wayne International Airport and the Grand Wayne Convention Center. The platform uses precise indoor mapping technology and accessible wayfinding to provide users with real-time, turn-by-turn directions through their mobile device, as described in a press release shared Wednesday by the airport.

GoodMaps is a mobile app visitors can download on their phones. It’s also available on the airport’s website. The technology aims to guide users ranging from first-time visitors to longtime residents trying to navigate the two local facilities that are often crowded and have the potential to be overwhelming.

Kevin Kline, a community engagement representative for GoodMaps, said the platform can be particularly useful for those who have vision or hearing impairment, mobility challenges, or whose first language is not English…
