Nearly 1,500 layoffs hit North Texas healthcare, foster care and logistics companies

  • Conifer Health Solutions, a North Texas-based subsidiary of Tenet Healthcare Corp., is laying off 1,037 employees across the United States due to restructuring and technology initiatives related to no longer providing services to CommonSpirit Health after October 30.

Three North Texas companies announced significant layoffs, adding up to nearly 1,500 job losses, according to WARN Act filings registered Tuesday with the Texas Workforce Commission, including more than 1,000 workers from one local healthcare company.

Conifer Health Solutions, a North Texas-based subsidiary of Tenet Healthcare Corp., is laying off 1,037 employees. The workers are located across the United States but report to Tenet’s corporate headquarters in North Dallas and will lose their jobs beginning in early November. The employees are not unionized and do not have bumping rights.

“Conifer is taking this action due to restructuring and technology initiatives related to, among other things, no longer providing services to CommonSpirit Health after October 30,” Stephanie Wheeler, Conifer’s HR director, wrote in the mandatory notice letter. “This layoff is expected to be permanent.”…
