New Orleans Police Department officer resignations have fallen sharply since 2022 even as terminations have climbed, marking an overall drop in separations and a notable reversal for a department that has historically struggled with low staffing.
The shift marks a sea change in how officers are leaving the New Orleans Police Department and coincides with Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick’s arrival as the city’s top cop in late 2023.
